    The U.S. Air Force is charged with meeting the needs of its airmen and civilian employees in many ways, including spiritually and emotionally. When Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Michael Bram of Edwards Air Force Base wanted to ensure these individuals’ spiritual needs are being met, he looked to the Air Force’s Total Force partner, Civil Air Patrol.
  • Reserve C-130 aerial firefighting teams fly during second busiest wildfire season

    The 302nd Airlift Wing has three C-130 aircraft flying sorties out of McClellan Air Tanker Base this year in Sacramento County, California, performing an aerial firefighting mission unique within the Air Force Reserve. Since first being activated on July 20, the 302 AW has been working together with other military aircraft from Nevada Air National Guard’s 152 AW, Wyoming ANG’s 153 AW, and California ANG’s 146 AW to drop millions of gallons of fire retardant in support of fire suppression efforts in California.

    The 601st Air Operations Center, often referred to as ‘America’s AOC’, hosted members of the Qatar Emiri Air Force during a recent visit here to gain insight into the Continental U.S. NORAD Region’s homeland defense operations August 2-5, 2021. The Qatari Delegation spent time on the operations floor observing the AOC’s 24/7 no-fail mission of defending the continental United States and how a bi-national command seamlessly demonstrates interoperability enhancing defense operations. 
  • America’s AOC marks 20th anniversary of 9/11 with remembrance ceremony

    The events of September 11, 2001 are forever etched in the minds of survivors and the countless other American’s who bared witness to the terrorist attacks against America. The 601st Air Operations Center, also referred to as America’s AOC, held a commemorative ceremony at the 9/11 memorial in remembrance of those who perished on that tragic day and as affirmation of commitment to defend our homeland against terroristic threats on September 10, 2021. The ceremony was presided over by Col. Gregory Krane, 601st AOC commander.
  • Department of Defense Guidance for Coronavirus Disease 2019 Vaccination Attestation and Screening Testing for Unvaccinated Personnel

    Today, the Department of Defense released Force Health Protection Guidance (Supplement 23) which provides guidance for implementing additional force health protection and workplace safety measures directed by the White House Safer Federal Workforce Task Force to reduce the transmission of the virus that causes the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
  • First Air Force, Air Forces Northern provides Hurricane Ida aerial assessments

    Aircrews and ground teams with First Air Force’s Air Force Auxiliary have joined federal and Louisiana state emergency managers’ efforts to assess Hurricane Ida’s impact. Since Tuesday afternoon, the Civil Air Patrol Louisiana Wing, acting as the official U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, has flown five extensive aerial sorties, photographing areas of severe wind damage and flooding in the Greater New Orleans Metropolitan Area and in areas extending from Thibodaux south to Houma and southeast to Galliano. Their mission is to gather aerial and ground-level photos and data for use by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP).

    An elderly dementia sufferer who had wandered nearly five miles into the NC woods was located, rescued and returned to safety in under eleven hours, as the result of the combined efforts of First Air Force and its interagency partners across the Southeast.
