Fixed Wing Parking Tender for the Bureau of Land Management Dan Wilson assists with launching an aerial firefighting aircrew aboard a Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System (MAFFS) equipped C-130H assigned to the 153rd Airlift Wing at Klamath Falls Air Tanker Base, Oregon, Aug. 12, 2023. U.S. Air Force C-130H MAFFS-equipped aircraft, as requested by the National Interagency Fire Center and approved by the Secretary of Defense, provide unique firefighting capabilities to support wildfire suppression efforts against the Wiley, Jerry Ridge, and Ben Harrison Fires. Air Forces Northern, U.S. Northern Command's Air Component Command, is the DoD's operational lead for aerial military support to the National Interagency Fire Center, assisting with wildland fire suppression operations when requested.
