CAP cadets
TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. - Lt. Gen. William Etter, Continental U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command Region – 1st Air Force (Air Forces Northern) commander, presents his commander’s coin for recognition of superior performance to Civil Air Patrol Cadet /Lieutenant Colonel Alexander English, Central Florida Composite Squadron, during a CAP cadet tour of the 601st Air Operations Center Wednesday. English is a CAP Bronze Medal of Honor Recipient who distinguished himself by saving a cadet from imminent harm when a tornado threatened the camper shelter where the cadet sought refuge. English ran to the camper and brought the cadet to the safer shelter of a van only minutes before the tornado struck and flipped the camper. English and the other cadets were visiting the 601st AOC as part of their annual week-long winter encampment event designed provide an in-depth orientation to the Civil Air Patrol and the United States Air Force.
