During his visit to Joint Base Lewis-McChord Air Force Chief of Staff, Gen. Mark Welsh, visited the Western Air Defense Sector to learn more about their mission and the professionalism within the sector. “General Welsh has some very difficult decisions to make in the current political and fiscal climate. It is important for him to see the unparalleled professionalism, work ethic, and dedication displayed by the men and women of the Western Air Defense Sector,” said Col. Pete Stavros, WADS commander. “This type of exposure to our mission and unit will enable him to make well-informed decisions in the months and years ahead.” As a part of his tour, Gen. Welsh recognized Sgt. Charles Ansell, a Canadian Forces member of WADS who serves as the noncommissioned officer in charge of surveillance with a coin. “First the Seahawks win the Super Bowl and then I get the absolute honor to be recognized by the CSAF, General Welsh! It was certainly an amazing week," said Sgt. Ansell. “It was a great honor to be recognized by General Welsh. There are not too many Canadians with the CSAF coin!” (Courtesy photo)
