Celestial Eagle: Historic F-15 anti-satellite mission remembered

Capt. Todd Pearson, 390th Fighter Squadron pilot from Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, is assisted by Staff Sgt. Aaron Hartley, a Florida Air National Guard 125th Fighter Wing, Detachment 1, crew chief during the Celestial Eagle Remembrance Flight at Homestead Air Reserve Base, Fla. Captain Pearson’s father, retired Maj. Gen. Doug Pearson, flew the exact same F-15, now assigned to the 125th FW, exactly 22 years prior while accomplishing the only successful satellite kill by an aircraft launched missile in history. Sergeant Hartley came up with the idea while researching the history of the F-15s assigned to the 125th FW. (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Erik Hofmeyer)
