Among awards given the final night of Civil Air Patrol’s 2014 National Conference August 14-16 in Las Vegas, Nev., was the Continental U.S. Aerospace Defense Region-1st Air Force (Air Forces Northern) Commander’s Meritorious Service Award for the most outstanding CAP support of an event. This year, the award recognized the combined efforts of the North Carolina CAP wing and South Carolina CAP wing. Together, they were recognized for their exemplary support of a U.S. Marine Corps Unmanned Aerial System Airspace Integration Exercise at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C. in August 2013.
