Increased Activity at 148th Fighter Wing Published Aug. 19, 2009 By Maj. Audra Flanagan 148th Fighter Wing DULUTH, Minn. -- The 148th Fighter Wing will be participating in an Operational Readiness Inspection (ORI) Wednesday, August 19th to Sunday, August 22nd, 2009. As a result of the ORI, there will be increased flying activity, increased noise levels due to simulated explosions and simulated small arms fire, increased vehicle traffic and radio transmissions relating to simulated emergencies on the base. The purpose of the ORI is for the Air Combat Command's (ACC) Inspector General (IG) to measure a flying unit's ability to perform assigned operational missions, and validate a unit's combat readiness. The majority of the activities will be conducted on Friday, 21st and Saturday, July 22nd. Members of the community can expect to hear increased activity to include jets flying from early morning to late in the evening on those days.
