TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- During
her deployment to the 601st Air Operations Center here in support of
contingency operations for Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, Master Sgt. Jamie Jo
Walker, U.S. Air Force Space Command training manager, took time to reenlist in
front of the 9- 11 Memorial on the grounds of the 601st AOC and did it Sept. 11.
Walker is deployed
here from Air Force Space Command Headquarters, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado,
to help with space force enhancement issues during hurricane contingency
operations.
Since her first enlistment was a short time after Sept. 11, 2001,
she decided to reenlist her final time Sept. 11, to reengage the “great sense
of pride and purpose” she felt then.
“In both instances, I felt honored to be
part of a team that is helping to solve a tremendous challenge,” Walker said.
Also
timely was the fact the reenlistment officer, Lt. Col. Brian Lukowski,
Director, Space Forces, Continental Aerospace Defense Region-1st Air Force (Air
Forces Northern) was previously her flight commander at Cheyenne Mountain Air
Station, Colorado.
“Even though we haven’t worked together since 2005, it was an
easy adjustment to regain our old crew coordination,” Lukowski said.
