EXPEDITIONARY MEDICAL SUPPORT
Published October 26, 2007
Air Forces Northern can deploy an Expeditionary Medical Support team, or EMEDS, to the disaster area to assist the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency with their rescue and recovery efforts.
The EMEDS provides a 160-member team of expertly-trained medical professionals and a mobile hospital to support the medical needs of the emergency responders. The team is able to handle most aspects of emergency medical care, including surgery and trauma. The team is the primary source of medical care to the force's emergency responders deployed to a disaster area.
