LT. COL. KATHLEEN S. QUARNACCIO

Lieutenant Colonel Kathleen S. Quarnaccio is Commander, Detachment 1, First Air Force, Canadian Forces Base Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Detachment 1 is assigned to the 1 Canadian Air Division and Canadian North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Region Headquarters in support of the bi-national NORAD agreement between the governments of the United States and Canada. Lt Col Quarnaccio is responsible to provide 24/7 U.S. communications links, as well as Fighter, Logistics, Intelligence and Air Battle Management functional support to the Canadian NORAD Region mission as well as administrative personnel support to a USAF Brigadier General assigned as the Deputy Commander, Canadian NORAD Region. Additionally, she serves as the Division Chief to the 1 Canadian Air Division Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC) Standards and Evaluation Division in support of NORAD and Canadian Joint Operations Command missions. In this capacity, she is responsible for the standardization and evaluation of CAOC Battle Staff operations and ensuring CAOC personnel are qualified and mission-ready.

Lt Col Quarnaccio received her commission in 1997 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil Engineering and completed Air Battle Management Training at Tyndall AFB, Florida. She has qualified as an Evaluator Senior Director and Mission Crew Commander in the Control and Reporting Center Modular Control Equipment, and as an Instructor Air Surveillance Officer and Mission Crew Commander in the E-3B/C AWACS. Throughout her career, Lt Col Quarnaccio served as Chief of Standards and Evaluations, Chief of Weapons and Tactics, Flight Commander, Director of Squadron Training, Assistant Director of Operations, and Wing Director of Inspections and Readiness. She also served as a Command and Control Duty Officer at the 607th Combat Operations Squadron, Osan AB, Republic of Korea. As a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School, Lt Col Quarnaccio holds the additional qualification of Political-Military Affairs Specialist. She has deployed in support of numerous operations to include SOUTHERN WATCH, NOBLE EAGLE, IRAQI FREEDOM, and ENDURING FREEDOM.
