Canadian Major-General Paul Doyle is deputy commander of Continental U.S. NORAD Region. MGen Doyle enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1991 and attended both Royal Roads Military College (RRMC) Victoria and the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) graduating in 1995 prior to starting pilot training at 15 Wing Moose Jaw.
On receiving his Pilot Wings in 1996, he was selected to fly the CF-188 and has flown with 425 Tactical Fighter Squadron at 3 Wing Bagotville and 410 Tactical Fighter (Operational Training) Squadron at 4 Wing Cold Lake. At these two units, he has flown as a Line Pilot, a Fighter Weapons Instructor and Flight Commander.
For staff tours, MGen Doyle has been posted to 1 Canadian Air Division / Canadian NORAD Region in Winnipeg in the Fighter Section and as the Director of Fleet Readiness. He has also served at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado as the NORAD Director of Inspections and with the Commander’s Initiatives Group. Supporting the mission of the RCAF, he has been the Air Force Advisor to the United Kingdom in London.
For operational experience, MGen Doyle has flown in Europe in support of NATO operations in the Balkans from Aviano Air Force Base in Italy and across North America with NORAD for Operation NOBLE EAGLE. He has also served twice in a staff capacity with the 609th Air and Space Operations Center at Al Udeid Air Force Base, Qatar.
For command tours, MGen Doyle has had the privilege of commanding 410 TF(OT)S from 2012-2014 and 4 Wing Cold Lake from 2016-2019, Commander and Defence Advisor to the UK at the High Commission of Canada from 2020 -2022 and Deputy Commander of 1 Canadian Air Division from 2022-2025. MGen Doyle was promoted to his current rank in 2025 and posted as Deputy Commander, Continental U.S. NORAD Region, Tyndall AFB, Fla.
