IRD provides imagery of hurricane-ravaged areas
TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Staff Sgt. Jordan Norton and 1st Lt. Brenda Wisham review a briefing Sept. 12 as they outline plans to collect aerial imagery after Hurricane Ike passes across the eastern coast of Texas. The 601st IRD – short for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance division – remains on an around-the-clock schedule to provide a critical link between disaster response forces poised on the storm’s front lines and manned and unmanned imagery aircraft flying overhead.
