First time blood donor, Staff Sgt. Pogisa Faumuina, 225th Air Defense Group, Western Air Defense Sector, is pleased that the donation process is smooth and painless.  Faumuina’s unit held a blood drive April 30 as part of the Washington Air National Guard regularly scheduled drill weekend.  All blood donated through the Armed Services Blood Bank Center Pacific Northwest will arrive within a week in order to support service members deployed overseas. Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced April 26 that the president has nominated Air Force Vice Chief of Staff Gen. David L. Goldfein to be the 21st chief of staff of the Air Force, succeeding Gen. Mark A. Welsh III, who has served in the position since 2012.
