PREDATOR Air Forces Northern can respond to Department of Homeland Security requests for aerial imagery with the MQ-1 Predator Unmanned Aerial System. The Predators can be deployed to the area to help with search, rescue and recovery efforts over the devastated areas. The MQ-1 Predator is a medium-altitude, long-endurance, remotely piloted aircraft. The MQ-1's primary mission is interdiction and reconnaissance of critical, perishable targets. Predators are able to fly in the U.S. after U.S. Northern Command and the FAA came to an agreement in 2006 that allows the crews to assist during major disasters.
